Can your book work as a business-development asset?
For a coach, consultant, adviser or clinician, the useful question is not how to publish a book. It is what the book should accomplish once it exists, and whether the concept you have can do that job. This is a review of exactly that, before you commit to anything.
What the review covers
Positioning. The specific thesis, problem or category the book should own, rather than a general book about your field.
The reader. Who it is written for, and whether that is the same person who buys your services.
Your methodology. Whether you have a framework or point of view substantial enough to carry a book.
The commercial objective. Authority, client conversations, speaking, partnerships, or a combination, and which should lead.
Its role in your process. Where the book sits between a prospect first hearing of you and deciding to work with you.
The publishing path. Which Columbia Publication program fits what you are trying to do, including whether it does not warrant the premium program.
Who this suits, and who it does not
It suits you if you sell expertise rather than a commodity, you have a methodology or distinctive point of view, your prospects research you before they buy, and you intend to use the book inside your business rather than leave it on a retail listing.
It is probably not for you if you mainly want the cheapest route to publication, your goal is bestseller status, you are writing a personal memoir unconnected to your practice, or you are not yet clear who the book is for. Those are all legitimate projects; they are just not what this review is for.
Work you can check
City of the Gods by Jason Patterson. ISBN 979-8-218-83862-1, live on Amazon with 21 verified reviews at 4.7 stars, covered by NY Weekly and ArtDaily. Columbia Publication handled editing, cover, distribution, marketing and the audiobook.
That is a delivered book you can open and check, rather than a projection. Columbia Publication does not publish client outcome figures it cannot evidence.
