A print-ready PDF sized to your chosen trim size (5x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9 or custom). Correct gutter margins for binding, embedded fonts, proper chapter openings, suppressed headers on opening pages, page numbers positioned correctly, and a full preflight check confirming the file meets KDP and IngramSpark upload specifications. This is the file that produces a physically perfect printed book.
A clean EPUB 3 file where text, headings and images reflow correctly across every screen size and eReader. Compatible with Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes and Noble Nook, Google Play Books and all major platforms. Tested across multiple devices before delivery. No broken headings, no font overrides, no image sizing errors.
A Kindle-specific file (MOBI or KPF) for Amazon's ecosystem. Amazon's own KDP conversion from EPUB sometimes produces formatting errors. We produce a native Kindle file that renders correctly in the Kindle app across iPhone, Android, Kindle device and Kindle Cloud Reader. Tested on each before delivery.
For children's picture books and illustrated titles where the precise position of images relative to text must be maintained at every screen size. Fixed-layout EPUB is technically distinct from reflowable EPUB and significantly more complex to produce. Pages are built individually with pixel-precise placement. Required for KDP and IngramSpark illustrated book distribution.
Business books, self-help, memoir, personal development. The standard trim for most non-fiction titles. Good page density at typical word counts.
Personal narrative, memoir, creative non-fiction. Slightly smaller than 6x9, creates a more intimate reading experience. Common for literary non-fiction.
Novels, novellas, short story collections. The classic fiction trim size. Produces a book that looks and feels like a traditionally published novel at retail.
Picture books and illustrated children titles. Square format maximises illustration space and displays well on Amazon thumbnails and retail shelves.
Workbooks, journals, activity books, coffee table books and titles with significant visual content or wide tables. Full US letter size.
Any trim size supported by KDP or IngramSpark. We format to any custom dimensions with correct margin calculations for the chosen binding type and page count.
Word documents carry hidden spacing rules that differ by paragraph style. A direct upload produces random gaps between paragraphs throughout the book that the author never sees until the proof copy arrives.
Every paragraph, heading and section break is set to an explicit baseline grid. No paragraph in the finished book has different spacing from any other of the same type.
KDP calculates spine width from page count. If the inner gutter margin is not adjusted for the specific page count, text runs too close to the spine and becomes difficult to read in the bound copy.
Gutter margins are set precisely from the final page count using KDP and IngramSpark margin tables. The inner margin is never less than what the platform requires for that page count.
A common Word export error places page numbers on chapter opening pages, blank pages and the title page. In a finished book this looks amateurish and is immediately visible to any reader.
Page numbers are suppressed on chapter opening pages, blank pages and all front matter pages as per book industry standard. Running headers are correctly absent where convention requires.
If fonts are not embedded in the PDF before upload, KDP substitutes them with system defaults. The book is published in a different typeface from the one the author chose, permanently.
Every font used in the interior is embedded in the PDF before delivery. What you see in the proof is exactly what every copy of the book prints as, permanently and without substitution.
