Book marketing for UK authors

Book Marketing Services for UK Authors

Readers buy authors they recognise. We build that recognition for you: a website, your book in more shops, social media, trailers, press and a bestseller push, run by one team on a written schedule and priced in pounds. You approve the work. We do the rest.

Tell us the title and your launch date. A marketing strategist replies within one business day with a plan for your book and a written price in pounds.

The short answer

Columbia Publication offers book marketing for UK authors in three kinds, priced in pounds. Author marketing plans build the author’s brand: Launch & Elevate (3 months, £3,449), Visibility Accelerator (6 months, £6,399, with a 3-Day Bestseller campaign included) and Scale & Thrive (12 months, £11,399), covering an author website, wider distribution, social media, trailers, press releases, content, outreach and SEO. Amazon.co.uk sales campaigns cost £1,149 to £3,649, and school and library outreach £1,349 to £5,249. Ad budget is always separate, decided by the author and paid to the platform directly.

Is this you?

This is for you if

  • You have a launch date and want the months before it used to build a UK audience.
  • Your book is out, the reviews are kind, and almost nobody is finding it on Amazon.co.uk.
  • You want UK readers, bookshops and press to know you as the author.
  • You would rather approve the work than spend your evenings doing it.

A book on Amazon.co.uk alone is a book most readers never see.

Most authors launch with one listing, no website, a social page they post on when they remember and no press. Then they hire one freelancer for ads, another for publicity and a third for a website, and nobody owns the result.

We run it as one plan. Two weeks to get the foundations live, then a fixed number of trailers, posts, articles, press releases and outreach every month, with a report that shows each one was done.

Ad budget is separate from every price on this page, and you set it. Before any ad runs, we recommend an amount and you decide. You pay Facebook, Instagram or Amazon directly, so it never passes through us, is never marked up, and you can raise, lower or pause it at any time.

Author marketing plans

What happens in the first two weeks of an author plan?

Your author website goes live

Built around you and the book, with sample pages, links to every shop and a newsletter signup.

Your book reaches more shops

Beyond Amazon.co.uk to Apple Books, Kobo and the book trade that UK bookshops and libraries order from. Already done? We skip it.

Your author profiles are set up

Amazon Author Central, Goodreads, BookBub and retailer profiles, so readers who find one find all of you.

Your launch is announced

Social accounts set up, the first trailer in production and your launch press release written for your approval.

When to start: about eight weeks before launch, so the first two months build the website, profiles, trailers and anticipation. Books already out start with the same two weeks.

Marketing in the UK

What works for marketing a book in the UK?

Amazon.co.uk first

Categories, keywords and description set for UK shoppers, with Amazon Ads run in your own account in pounds.

Local press and radio

Press releases and pitches to local papers, magazines, podcasts and radio in your area and your genre.

Bookshops and events

Independent bookshops, libraries and festivals respond to local authors with a clear story and stock they can order.

Schools and libraries

For children’s and educational books, outreach to teachers and librarians with a resource built around the book.

A real campaign

What did a marketing campaign deliver for a real book?

What we delivered for The City of the Gods by Jason Patterson: a coordinated free Kindle promotion that reached #2 in Mythology and #2 in Greco-Roman Myth & Legend Fantasy on the Kindle Store, Amazon A+ Content, editorial features in NY Weekly and ArtDaily, an author website built and later redesigned, Facebook and Instagram run with a monthly calendar of 15 posts, and articles and guest posts. Amazon.co.uk sales campaigns

Only want to sell more copies on Amazon.co.uk?

CampaignPriceWhat it includes
90-Day Launch£1,149Sales audit of your Amazon page, keyword, category and description work, Amazon Ads built and managed in your account, early reader review campaign, Goodreads and BookBub profiles, monthly report
6-Month Growth£2,049Everything in 90 days, plus newsletter setup and monthly reader email, two price promotions, a listing refresh at month three, monthly call
12-Month Programme£3,649Everything in six months, plus an author website, a press release, a promotion every quarter and ads across your series, quarterly strategy call

Your Amazon ad budget is decided by you before launch and paid directly to Amazon, separate from the campaign price.

School and library outreach

Can you get a book in front of UK teachers and librarians?

CampaignPriceWhat it includes
30 to 45 day outreach test£1,349One educational resource built around the book, a resource page, 10 to 15 hand-researched contacts, personal outreach and follow-up, engagement report. No ad spend needed
60-day outreach campaign£3,799Discussion guide, resource page, 25 to 30 contacts with outreach and one follow-up, Facebook and Instagram ads managed for 60 days, end report
120-day outreach campaign£5,249Everything in 60 days, plus a second resource, 50 contacts with two follow-ups each, retargeting and a mid-campaign review

Contacts are researched one by one, never bought lists.

Reviews and rankings

Why don’t you guarantee reviews or a #1 ranking?

Because a guarantee like that can only be kept by breaking the rules. Since April 2025 UK law bans fake and paid-for reviews, and Amazon removes reviews it believes were bought and can act against the book, so a guaranteed number of reviews puts your book at risk. We put the book in front of real readers instead, and what we guarantee in writing is the work: every trailer, post, article and press release, counted in your agreement and listed in your report.

When it is done

Six months from now

Someone hears about your book on a podcast, searches your name and finds your website, your trailer and a page of articles you never had to write. They buy it on Amazon.co.uk or order it from their local shop. Your book has a bestseller tag from launch week, and every month you get a report showing exactly what was done.

“It turned out better than I could have imagined when I first started.”

Questions

Book marketing in the UK: common questions

How much does book marketing cost in the UK?

With us, author marketing plans cost £3,449 for three months, £6,399 for six and £11,399 for twelve. Amazon.co.uk campaigns cost £1,149 to £3,649, and school and library outreach £1,349 to £5,249. Ad budget is always separate and set by you. We do not add VAT.

What is the difference between the three kinds?

Author marketing plans build you as an author across the web. Amazon.co.uk campaigns focus only on selling more copies on Amazon. School and library outreach puts the book in front of teachers and librarians. The free consultation tells you which fits.

Is the ad budget included?

No. The plan price covers our work. You decide the ad budget before any ad runs and pay Facebook, Instagram or Amazon directly. It is never marked up and you can change or pause it at any time.

Do you guarantee reviews or sales?

No. Buying reviews is against Amazon’s rules and puts the book at risk, and nobody controls readers or algorithms. We commit in writing to the work, the dates and the reporting.

Can you get my book into UK bookshops?

We make it orderable through the book trade and pitch local bookshops, libraries and festivals. Stocking it on the shelf is the shop’s decision.

Is the consultation free?

Yes. A marketing strategist recommends the plan that fits and answers your questions, by call or email, with no obligation.

How do I pay?

In full upfront, once you approve the written quote in pounds.

Tell us your launch date. We will plan the months before and after it.

Title, genre and launch date. A marketing strategist replies within one business day.
