Does distribution mean bookstores will stock my book?
Last updated: October 9, 2026
No. Distribution makes your book available to order from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo and, through IngramSpark, bookstores and libraries. Whether a store puts copies on its shelves is the store's decision, and no honest publisher can guarantee shelf placement or sales.
How do authors get books into local stores?
By asking. A store is more likely to stock a book when it is orderable through IngramSpark at a standard wholesale discount, when the author has a local readership, or when there is an event. We can help you plan a book signing event, which builds credibility. It is not a sales guarantee.
