Abbott Press was a self-publishing imprint launched by Writer's Digest and operated by Author Solutions. It has since closed as a standalone imprint. Authors with books published through Abbott Press were migrated to AuthorHouse, an Author Solutions brand. Your account and title data can be accessed through AuthorHouse using the same email you used for your Abbott Press account.
Abbott Press Closed: What Authors Need to Know
Abbott Press, the Writer's Digest self-publishing imprint managed by Author Solutions, no longer operates as a standalone brand. If you published through Abbott Press, your title has been transferred to AuthorHouse. Here is what that means for your book, your royalties, and your options going forward.
What happened to Abbott Press
Abbott Press launched in 2011 as a Writer's Digest branded imprint, managed by Author Solutions, the self-publishing conglomerate that also operates iUniverse, Xlibris, Trafford, and AuthorHouse. Writer's Digest provided editorial direction; Author Solutions handled production, sales, and marketing.
The imprint operated as a premium tier within the Author Solutions ecosystem. When it closed as a standalone brand, existing author accounts and titles were transferred to AuthorHouse. Authors can access their projects at authorhouse.com using their original Abbott Press account email.

Your options as an Abbott Press author
If your book is active and generating royalties, your AuthorHouse account provides continuity. Review your royalty reports and confirm your distribution settings are still active. AuthorHouse's dashboard shows current sales and allows you to update pricing, description, and cover files.
If you are unhappy with Author Solutions' pricing model, service quality, or royalty structure, you can republish through an independent full-service publisher. Because Author Solutions contracts typically grant authors the right to terminate, you are generally free to republish. Review your specific contract terms or consult an attorney before doing so.
Republish with Columbia Publication
Columbia Publication works with authors moving away from package-based publishers. If you have your original manuscript or production files, we handle formatting, cover design, ISBN, and global distribution. You retain 100% of your rights and royalties. No ongoing royalty split: one flat fee, one engagement, and the book is yours on every platform permanently.
