At a glance

What does VBS and Sunday school printing involve?

Church curriculum printing produces student books, leader guides and take-home pieces for a week of VBS or a quarter of Sunday school, often as a matched set of titles. Children’s pages need bright colour and durable covers, leaders need books that lie flat, and everything has to arrive before the first session. A specialist replies within one business day.

Good to know

Curriculum that arrives before the first session.

Vacation Bible School remains one of the largest church programs in America: Lifeway alone reports more than 2.5 million children in its VBS each summer across more than 25,000 churches, and 47% of parents with children under 19 said in a 2018 Lifeway Research survey that their child had attended VBS. Churches typically order between January and May, so your quote gives a schedule built back from your VBS week.

Rights decide what can be printed. Published VBS kits and Sunday school curricula are owned by their publishers and can be copied only as their licence allows. Your church’s own curriculum is yours to print, and historic catechisms such as the Westminster Shorter Catechism are in the public domain, while the Catechism of the Catholic Church is not. Your specialist confirms your right to print before work starts.

Your own VBS

Churches that write their own VBS theme can print student books, leader guides and take-home pieces as one matched set, with next year’s edition produced against the same specification.

Curriculum publishers

Independent curriculum and catechism publishers can print multi-title programs with trim, paper and binding matched across every title, delivered to a warehouse or split across churches.

Questions

VBS and Sunday school printing questions, answered.

Still have a question? Ask it in your quote request, or call +1 (703) 997-9787.

When should we order VBS materials?

As soon as your files are final. Most churches order between January and May. Your quote gives a confirmed schedule built back from your VBS week, so tell us your start date when you request a quote.

Can we print a published VBS kit?

Only as its licence allows. Published VBS kits and Sunday school curricula are owned by their publishers, and many limit copying to set reproducible pages. Your own curriculum, or one you hold the rights to, can be printed in full.

Can you print catechisms?

Yes. Historic catechisms such as the Westminster Shorter Catechism are in the public domain. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is not: quoting 1,000 words or more needs permission through the US bishops.

Can leader guides lie flat?

Yes. Leader guides can be spiral or wire-o bound so they stay open on a table during the session.

How fast will I get my quote?

A print specialist replies within one business day, every time. Most quotes arrive in that first reply. For large or specialised editions, such as 10,000+ copies, Bible paper, Smyth-sewn bindings or premium covers, we take a little longer to get every detail right: your specialist confirms the specifications with you first and sends the complete quote within three business days. You never wait without knowing what happens next.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Any quantity is welcome, from a single congregation to a national program. Tell us what you need and a print specialist replies within one business day with a custom quote for your exact quantity.

What do you need from me to quote?

The text or edition, the page count (or an existing copy we can match), the quantity, your delivery ZIP code and your deadline. If you are unsure about paper, binding or cover, tell us how the books will be used, for example pews, giveaways, study or gifts, and your specialist recommends the specification.

Do you only print, or do you manage the whole project?

The whole project. One specialist handles your order from the first specification to delivery at your door: spec advice, file checks, proofs, production checks, packing for each destination and the delivery itself.

Will I see a proof before anything is printed?

Yes. A digital proof is free on every order. A physical proof, showing the actual paper, cover and binding, is available on request and billed separately. Nothing is printed until you approve.

How long does production take?

Your quote gives a confirmed schedule built around the date you need the books, before you place the order. Timelines differ by page count, paper, binding and quantity, so we confirm yours rather than publish one blanket figure.

Can you deliver to several churches, mosques, synagogues, temples or campuses on one order?

Yes. Split delivery is agreed before production, and the order is counted, packed and routed separately for each destination.

What if our building has no loading dock?

Tell us in your request. Large orders arrive on pallets, so your quote sets out how the delivery reaches you, including whether a liftgate or a booked delivery appointment is needed, and someone will need to be there to sign for it.

How does payment work?

Payment is made in full once you approve the written quote. It books press time and buys the paper for your run, which is what fixes your delivery date. Churches, mosques, temples and other organizations that buy by purchase order can issue one, and every invoice cites its number.

Can you reprint the same edition later?

Yes. Your approved specification is kept on file, and reprints are produced against it, so the next run matches the first in paper, binding and finish.

Do you deliver outside the United States?

Yes, on request. Your quote sets out the delivery method and timing for your destination.
